Reentrant rigidity percolation in structurally correlated filamentous networks

چکیده

Many biological tissues feature a heterogeneous network of fibers whose tensile and bending rigidity contribute substantially to these tissues' elastic properties. Rigidity percolation has emerged as an important paradigm for relating filamentous mechanics the concentrations their constituents. Past studies have generally considered tuning networks by spatially homogeneous variation in concentration, while ignoring structural correlation. We introduce here model which dilute fiber are built correlated manner that produces alternating sparse dense regions. Our simulations indicate correlation consistently allows attain with less material. further find threshold varies nonmonotonically degree correlation, such it decreases moderate once more increases high explain eventual reentrance dependence on consequence large, stiff clusters too poorly coupled transmit forces across network. study offers deeper understanding how spatial heterogeneity may enable robustly adapt different mechanical contexts.

Percolation on correlated networks.

We reconsider the problem of percolation on an equilibrium random network with degree-degree correlations between nearest-neighboring vertices focusing on critical singularities at a percolation threshold. We obtain criteria for degree-degree correlations to be irrelevant for critical singularities. We present examples of networks in which assortative and disassortative mixing leads to unusual ...

Percolation on correlated random networks

We consider a class of random, weighted networks, obtained through a redefinition of patterns in an Hopfield-like model, and, by performing percolation processes, we get information about topology and resilience properties of the networks themselves. Given the weighted nature of the graphs, different kinds of bond percolation can be studied: stochastic (deleting links randomly) and deterministi...

Generic rigidity percolation in two dimensions.

We study rigidity percolation for random central-force networks on the bondand site-diluted generic triangular lattice. Here, each site location is randomly displaced from the perfect lattice, removing any special symmetries. Using the pebble game algorithm, the total number of floppy modes are counted exactly, and exhibit a cusp singularity in the second derivative at the transition from a rig...

Rigidity percolation in particle-laden foams.

We study the viscoelastic behavior of aqueous foam mixed with solid noncolloidal particles. We show that adding a tiny amount of grains can enhance the elastic and loss shear moduli by more than 1 order of magnitude. The scaling of these moduli with solid volume fraction is in qualitative agreement with that predicted by an effective-medium rigidity percolation model. We present a simple model,...
